2019 NFL mock draft: Bengals draft Drew Lock to replace Andy Dalton
By Brad Weiss
The Jacksonville Jaguars made it all the way to the AFC Championship Game two years ago, so the fact that they are picking in the top-10 is a bit of a shock in 2019. However, one look at their play on the field last season and it is clear that it is not a shock, as they got terrible play on both sides of the ball all season long.
Their biggest issue was at the most important position in all of professional sports, as former franchise quarterback Blake Bortles just could not get the job done. He is long gone now, and will back up Jared Goff out in Los Angeles, clearing the way for Nick Foles to take over at quarterback in 2019.
Foles is fresh off leading the Philadelphia Eagles to back-to-back playoff appearances, including a Super Bowl victory two years ago. He is the leader that this offense needs, but in order for him to be successful in Jacksonville, they have to do a better job of putting talented offensive linemen in front of him.
With the No. 7 overall pick in April, look for the Jaguars to target an offensive lineman, and Jawaan Taylor from Florida may be the best offensive tackle available. Taylor is a punishing blocker in the run game, is great at pass protection, and after giving Foles so much money, protecting him has to be priority No. 1 for this team moving forward.
