Collin McHugh just recreated a scene from “The Matrix” and it was everything.

In the second inning of Tuesday night’s game between the Houston Astros and the Oakland A’s, Oakland’s Kendrys Morales hit the pitch right up the middle straight at McHugh. Luckily, McHugh was on his toes and leaned back within inches of being taken out by the ball.

You could say he bent over backward for the team (badum tish).

In case you were wondering (we know you weren’t) Astros shortstop, Carlos Correa, fielded it near second-base and turned two. So McHugh’s dodge wasn’t for not.

If you watch the replay carefully you can see home-plate umpire Chris Guccione walk out to the mound and appear to say, “That was ‘The Matrix!”

Yes, Guccione, we think so too.

In case you live under a rock, “The Matrix” is a movie franchise (first released in 1999) starring Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne and Carrie-Anne Moss. It’s claim to fame were the slow motion action scenes where Reeves would dodge bullets and other deadly objects by contorting his body in unimaginable ways.

Someone better check to make sure McHugh is human!

At press time the Astros were up 9-0, in the bottom of the 8th. It’s probably safe to say that the Astros are taking this game home with them.
