The Detroit Pistons are totally overmatched by the Milwaukee Bucks. Without Blake Griffin is there anything they can do in Game 2?

Game 1 was about as clear a picture as you’ll get of the gap between the Bucks and the Pistons. Detroit, playing without Blake Griffin was down 20 at the end of the first quarter and trailed by as much as 43 before the final buzzer mercifully sounded. Giannis Antetokounmpo dominated early and then was able to rest, and none of Milwaukee’s started needed to play more than 30 minutes to earn this 36-point win.

Blake Griffin will not play in Game 2 and likely won’t play in the series at all, leaving Detroit without many options. He carried an enormous scoring and creation load for the Pistons during the regular season and the rest of the roster really isn’t equipped to pick up the slack. Reggie Jackson and Luke Kennard led the team 14 shots in Game 1. Behind them were Thon Maker and Wayne Ellington with 10 each. In terms of offensive threats, that’s what Detroit has to work with — complimentary shooters, inefficient creators and off-ball finishers. Andre Drummond’s post game is probably something that’s worth a try but unlikely to make much of a difference.

Expect this one to go for the Bucks again, and probably by a healthy margin. At the very least, it’s an opportunity to see some players who don’t normally get on the floor and perhaps watch the Bucks experiment with some lineups or strategies they might need to use in later rounds against more threatening opponents.
