After a big spending spree in the offseason brought some new stars to New York, the Jets will look to take advantage of a last place schedule to snap an eight year playoff drought.
The New York Jets haven’t made the playoffs since losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2010 AFC Championship game, but there’s every reason to believe that streak comes to an end in 2019. Quarterback Sam Darnold finished his rookie season strong and is poised to take a huge leap forward in his second year, and the Jets did a good job bringing in talent to help Darnold live up to his massive potential.
There’s a new coaching staff, headlined by former Dolphins’ coach Adam Gase, with designs on helping the Jets get the most out of Darnold. The Jets also took advantage of their boatload of salary cap room to bring in impact players throughout the roster, with the headliners being running back Le’Veon Bell and middle linebacker C.J. Mosley.
A last-place finish in the AFC East should benefit the Jets this season, who get games against the Jaguars and Raiders in addition to dates with teams from the AFC North and NFC East.

There are a lot of intriguing matchups on the Jets’ schedule, so don’t be surprised if they draw a higher than expected amount of primetime games. One that could make a ton of sense is their home matchup with the Steelers to see Bell take on his former team for the first time.
