Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2019 schedule release: Games, dates and times

It’s been more than a decade since the Tampa Bay Buccaneers reached the playoffs. Can their latest head coach lead them back to the postseason?

There has been zero playoff appearances for the franchise since then-head coach Jon Gruden led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the NFC South title with a 9-7 record in 2007. The team has gone through its share of sideline leaders over the last decade or so but there’s been no return to the postseason. Since ’08, the Bucs own a combined 64-112 win-loss record.

Now Bruce Arians, who spent the 2018 NFL campaign in the broadcast booth after leading the Arizona Cardinals for five seasons from 2013-17, is now Tampa’s newest sideline leader.

The team added its share of veterans this offseason. Quarterback Jameis Winston welcomes a few new weapons in running back Andre Ellington and wide receiver Breshad Perriman. Winston’s new backup is Blaine Gabbert as Ryan Fitzpatrick signed with the Miami Dolphins. On defense, Arians is very familiar with safety/outside linebacker Deone Bucannon, who comes over from the Cardinals.

General manager Jason Licht has the fifth overall pick in this year’s draft, as well as six other selections – one in each of the six other rounds. The team has its share of offensive talent but the Buccaneers’ defense has been an issue for too many seasons. All told, this remains a very interesting club.
