The Clippers stole the Warriors’ mojo with a historic 31-point comeback to steal Game 2. Can they do the impossible again in Game 3?

The Clippers 31-point comeback changed the dynamic of the series. It stole homecourt advantage. It put the Warriors on notice that this run would not be as simple as flipping a switch. It poured gasoline on whatever embers of chemistry dysfunction are smoldering in Golden State’s locker room and injected boundless confidence into the already confident Clippers.

However, it didn’t do much to change the facts on the ground. On pure talent, the Warriors still probably have three, maybe even four, of the best players in the series. They still have three of the greatest shooters in NBA history and they still have the scheme-busting offensive brilliance of Stephen Curry. A 31-point comeback evened the series but it didn’t close the gap.

If the Clippers are going to do the (seemingly) impossible again in Game 3, they’ll have to leverage their advantages (that pristine Lou Williams-Montrezl Harrell pick-and-roll) as completely as they did in Game 2. They’ll have to keep getting efficient contributions from Danilo Gallinari and Landry Shamet. They’ll have to lean into that confidence and they’ll have to hope that an epic meltdown is the straw that breaks the Warriors’ back.

Below is everything you’ll need to watch Game 3.

The Warriors will almost certainly come out firing to start the game and the Clippers will need to weather the storm and, possibly, engineer another comeback. Was Game 2 a wild outlier? Or the sign of unexpected upsets still to come?
