NFL schedule 2019: Biggest game for all 32 teams
Arizona Cardinals: vs. San Francisco 49ers
The Arizona Cardinals were a complete disaster a year ago, finishing with the worst record in the NFL. That development, combined with Arizona’s complete botching of Josh Rosen’s development, handed the Cardinals the top pick in the draft and cost Steve Wilks his job after just one year at the helm.
With Wilks out of the picture, Arizona opted to join the offensive revolution by hiring failed Texas Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury as Wilks’ replacement. Kingsbury, a noted comrade of Los Angeles Rams’ head man Sean McVay, will look to bring some offensive innovation to a team that looked very vanilla on that side of the ball in 2018.
Whether Rosen or Kyler Murray ends up quarterbacking the Cardinals, the team still has a long way to go to become a contender, making their biggest game a home showdown with the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers and Cardinals are expected to be fighting for third place in the NFC West, making these games a measuring stick for both sides.
Two of Arizona’s three wins from a year ago came against San Francisco, which didn’t have Jimmy Garoppolo healthy for either matchup. Garoppolo should be back this time around, leading to more competitive football games between the two division foes.
