2. Arrested on Raw

The “go-home” shows before any pay-per-view is often packed with exciting segments to build for the event the following week. On the Monday Night Raw before WrestleMania 35 the build to the women’s triple-threat match delivered enough hype to power the entire episode.

Going into WrestleMania 35 as the first female-driven main event meant Ronda Rousey, Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch would have all eyes on them to make this historic moment count. The build-up throughout the months leading into April and WrestleMania had gone off the rails. With so much time to fill between Lynch’s win at the Royal Rumble, and the actual match at WrestleMania, the story started to get muddy. The insertion of Flair only continued to cause confusion with back-and-forth storylines that made no sense. All of that was washed away with a fun, chaotic segment that saw all three women arrested before the night ended.

It started with a nonsensical tag match against the Riott Squad that saw the three WrestleMania opponents forced to team up. As soon as Rousey scored the victory she went on the attack, throwing Flair to the mat. When Lynch got involved, Rousey swept her leg out from under her and started to ground-and-pound, prompting Flair to jump back into the fray. The three women showcased a glimpse of what would be seen during the historic match at WrestleMania 35, but it didn’t end there.

Security and police swarmed the ring to stop the chaos but bodies continued to fly with the women attacking anyone who moved. Then the cuffs came out. Anytime a wrestler gets kayfabe arrested it brings the crowd to their feet. This time not one, but all three women were cuffed and dragged from the arena. That’s when things got really memorable.

In a backstage segment the women were shown being loaded into various police cars. They continued to slip away from the group of officers to go after each other. One moment saw Lynch and Rousey stuffed into the back of the same police cruiser where they tried to kick each other in the face. Instead, Rousey wound up kicking out the side window shattering glass everywhere and apparently really cutting up her leg in the process.

The insanity continued as Rousey managed to wiggle to the front seat and drive the cruiser into the back of another one all with her hands cuffed. A solid knee blast from Flair sent Rousey’s head into the side of the cruiser becoming the most impactful lasting image of the night. The segment was crazy-fun and it got everyone excited for the main event.
