A five-count rundown from this week’s episode of WWE NXT, keeping you up to date on the latest happenings in the black and gold brand.
The Superstar Shake-Up has come and gone and the black and gold brand of NXT didn’t miss a beat. On Wednesday night, two titles were on the line and the stakes were high in the main event. Let’s not waste any time in breaking down the show, this is the latest edition of the NXT Five Count.
1. It’s Dream over for Buddy Murphy
NXT kicked off the night with a North American title match between the champion Velveteen Dream and former WWE Cruiserweight Champion and the newest member of the SmackDown Live roster, Buddy Murphy.
This match took place due to the back-and-forth between the two after Murphy’s loss at WrestleMania on the kick-off show. Clearly, Murphy wanted revenge for the Dream’s comments about his loss and while the match was a great one, Murphy came up short in his goal to become champion.

The finish came when the champ hit the Dream Valley Driver followed by the Purple Rain Maker off the top rope. The match was definitive and while it was a hard-fought battle, there was no doubt who the better man was on the night.
The North American title division is heating up in the black and gold brand, and we think we already know who Dream’s next challenger is going to be. But we’ll cover that later on in this edition of the five count. For now, let’s talk about Johnny Champion.
