The Golden State Warriors will look to take a stranglehold on their first-round matchup with the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 4 on Sunday afternoon.

Was there little thought that the Golden State Warriors would come into the Staples Center and handle the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 3?

Of course not.

No sane basketball mind believed the Warriors would have trouble against the Clippers. Sure, they set dubious NBA history by coughing up a 31-point lead in Game 2 on their home floor; but when the series shifted to Hollywood, the Warriors made sure to never let something like that happen again.

Coming off of a dominating 132-105 shellacking, Steph Curry and the defending champion Warriors will look to grab an iron-clad stranglehold on the series Sunday afternoon.

Kevin Durant, who has been held in check by Clippers guard Patrick Beverly, finally broke free, leading Golden State with 38 points. Curry’s brilliant shooting was once again on display, scoring 21 points on just 11 shot attempts, and the rest of the Warriors found the balance that was just too overwhelming for the Clippers to counter.

Speaking of the Clippers, maybe it was the euphoria of that comeback in Game 2 that zapped them of energy, but they just didn’t have it in their homecoming, withering under a 41-21 first quarter blitz by the Warriors and never recovering. The Clippers were always going to be long-shots in this series, but that Game 2 comeback provided fans with some hope that the series would be competitive.

Game 3 shattered those hopes, and for the Clipper Nation, they’ed better hope that their squad can come out with better energy to match a Golden State team that has shifted into overdrive. Part of that is getting Lou Williams back dominating on the offensive end.

He finished with 16 points on 4-of-11 shooting, not the numbers he needs to produce if the Clippers have any hope of making this a series again.
