Entering the countdown at No. 7 is the tower of power, too sweet to be sour, funky like a monkey, (ohhhhh yeaaaaaaaaaaah!!!) six-time World Heavyweight Champion, “Macho Man” Randy Savage. Diggit.
There is no other wrestler on the planet who could take the theme song “Pomp and Circumstance Marches,” usually used for graduation ceremonies, and make it cool, but Savage was able to pull it off. He was a once-in-a-lifetime talent and his legacy is still fondly remembered by the wrestling fans of today, some who weren’t even alive to see him do his thing in the ring.
Macho Man’s colorful hats, jackets, shades and gear helped him stand out above everyone else. He captivated the crowd with his look and movements in and outside of the ring. Whether he was wrestling a five-star classic or simply making his way down the aisle, few could do it better than the Macho Man.
His run as the “Macho King” was very memorable for his entrances, as he would be often carried out on a throne as he made his way to the ring, a style of entrance that has often been replicated over the years but never duplicated. Savage found his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame in 2015 but we all wish he could have been in sooner; it would have been nice to hear from him as he was inducted, but better late than never.
