Blue Jays prospect Bo Bichette breaks hand

Vlad Jr. suffered an injury before the start of the season, and now his right hand man is set to miss some time.
The Toronto Blue Jays have a duo in Triple-A that are both very close to being in the big leagues. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. suffered an oblique injury in spring training that sidelined him for a few weeks, but since he’s returned he’s been back to his normal tank-hitting self.
His right hand man Bo Bichette is right behind him in terms of being big-league ready. Unfortunately it looks like Bichette is going to have to miss some time himself after being hit in the hand by a pitch on Monday night.
After testing it was determined that Bichette has a broken hand, but he will get a second opinion on the injury.
The 21-year-old infielder has shredded through the minor league system all the way up to Triple-A where he’s six years younger than the average Triple-A player. Baseball’s No. 10 prospect is going to be a major player for the Blue Jays for the next decade.
His glove still needs to catch up to his bat, but all Bichette does is hit the ball. After spending all of last season in Double-A as a 20-year-old, he led the Eastern League in hits (154), doubles (43), extra-base hits (61), runs scored (95) and total bases (244).
He’s off to a bit of a slow start this year, only posting a .714 OPS, but the Triple-A season is only 12 games deep. Even then a .714 OPS isn’t all that bad, and he was bound to get back on track sooner rather than later.
Bichette is currently without a timetable for his return. Once he returns to the lineup it won’t be long before he’s paired up again with Vlad Jr. on the Blue Jays’ roster.
