The Los Angeles Chargers were one of the better teams in football for much of the 2018 season, finishing the regular season with a stunning 12-4 record. On most years, that would be enough to earn the No. 1 overall seed in the AFC, and hold home field advantage throughout the AFC Playoffs, but unfortunately that was not the case.
Division rival Kansas City also had a 12-4 record, and held the tiebreaker against Los Angeles, so the Chargers had to settle for a Wild Card. They won their Wild Card matchup on the road against Baltimore, but fell in the Divisional Round against New England, which has been a pain in their side since Tom Brady took over as quarterback.
Looking towards the 2019 NFL Draft, the Chargers may want to add a first round safety for the second straight year, after hitting a home run with Derwin James in 2018. Nasir Adderley would be the perfect compliment to James in this Chargers secondary, which will need to improve to stop the likes of Patrick Mahomes in the AFC West.
Los Angeles has the talent on both sides of the ball to be one of the better teams in the AFC once again next season, and they certainly have their franchise quarterback in place. While Philip Rivers is getting older, he is not slowing down, and while many have predicted the Chargers could get his successor this late in round one, look for them to add elsewhere.
