MLB Bets – Wednesday April 24 – Tigers Keep Rolling
By John Fazio
Good day and welcome to MLB Bets. The Tigers helped make the day a 1.12 unit winner for the system.
Using 1 unit as a base and allowing for the lay and take, MLB Bets is now up 21.13 units on the season.
We’ve got a full slate of games today so let’s see which teams the system thinks are values. All plays valid regardless of pitching changes. All times Eastern.
Miami (+ no line yet ) is showing enough to beat Cleveland, 1:10 pm
The Marlins have now won 4 of their last 10 games after last nights win. At the big odds they are getting, that’s a winner.
Sandy Alcantara takes the hill for Miami after being shelled his last 2 starts. His presence on the mound will force the oddsmaker to set the opening line higher than he normally would because of the public support expected on the Tribe. This will happen even with the Indians loss today.
As of this overnight writing, no pitcher has been assigned to the Indians yet. Whoever it is, MLB Bets will be on the Marlins. The Indian bats are too quiet to be laying these high odds.
Cleveland has now lost 3 in a row. Miami is the play.
Mariners (+1.57) sink the Padres, 3:40 pm
Seattle is on too big of a winner to be given these kinds of odds. Yet the public is 80% on San Diego.
There is certainly no reason why the linesmaker should set this line low when the public percentage is so skewed toward the Padres. Maybe it’s the compelling story of a team long since going nowhere signing Machado and vying to be a contender.
The problem – San Diego is 6-8 at home while Seattle is 11-3 on the road even after the Padre win last night. Yes the starting pitchers at least ERA wise favors the Padres, but both are 3-1 on the season because of the tremendous bats of the Mariners.
MLB Bets sees this game at worst a pick and at best a Seattle favorite. Let’s try the Mariners again.
Detroit (+1.83) surprises Boston again, 7:10 pm
The Tigers amazingly won a doubleheader yesterday. The pitching angle and the momentum suggest another win tonight.
Tyson Ross goes for Detroit. He’s posted a season ERA of 3.38 and is at 3.32 in his last 3 starts. Eduardo Rodriguez gets the nod for the Red Sox showing a 7.20 ERA on the season and 6.32 last 3 starts.
MLB Bets feels this is pure perception keeping the line this high. The Tigers are winning and they have a better pitcher going today. Let’s try them again.
Cubs (+1.03) take apart the Dodgers again, 8:05 pm
Chicago did a number on LA yesterday. With Cole Hamels in great form they are primed to win again.
Hamels has been great this season and improving as he goes, now posting a 1.29 ERA over his last 3 starts. The team is 3-0 in that span.
Walker Buehler heads to the mound for LA. He has a fairly good ERA of 3.52 recently and 5.40 on the season.
Here is another example of perception over reality. The Cubs trounced the Dodgers yesterday, have a better pitcher going today, are at home, and yet they are the underdog. MLB Bets wants to grab the small plus on Chicago.
MLB Bets Recap for Wednesday April 24th:
Miami + no line yet
Seattle +1.37
Detroit +1.83
Cubs +1.03
