When is Spider-Man: Far From Home release date?
After Avengers Endgame, the MCU enters Phase 4 with Spider-Man: Far From Home, out this summer.
Avengers: Endgame, out this weekend, Friday April 26, marks the end of Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But as one phase ends, so the next begins. The MCU will kick off Phase 4 with Spider-Man: Far From Home summer 2019, with an official release date of July 5, 2019.
Far From Home is a sequel to the MCU’s first solo Spider-Man film, Spider-Man: Homecoming starring Tom Holland as the web-slinger. (While both Toby Maguire’s Spider-Man trilogy and Andrew Garfield’s Amazing Spider-Man double feature were Marvel-sanctioned movies, they weren’t part of the MCU — despite the fact Amazing Spider-Man did come out after the MCU began in 2008. But that’s another discussion.) In the interest of minimizing spoilers for Endgame, Marvel has been time-lipped with details and not much is known about when Far From Home takes place. While Robert Downey, Jr.’s Tony Stark is conspicuously absent from the trailers, they couldn’t exactly leave Peter Parker out of the trailer so we all know he comes back from the snap somehow.
Peter’s dissolution in the arms of Stark at the end of Infinity War was one of the most emotional moments of the film and Holland’s performance in the role has been widely praised. Which is just to say, he’s a perfect choice to start Phase 4 and bring the MCU into its next iteration swinging.
See Avengers: Endgame in theaters starting Thursday, April 25 and mark July 5 for your next date with the MCU.
