Considered the top edge rusher in the 2019 NFL Draft, Josh Allen is ready to leave a mark on the league.

After finishing as the SEC Defensive Player of the Year, and helping push Kentucky football into national conversation, linebacker Josh Allen is confident that he’s the best player in this draft. Why shouldn’t he be, he’s got the body of work to back it up.

National pundits see him going in the top-10 of the draft and while Allen thinks he should go No. 1 overall, he’s ready to suit up for whatever team picks him, oh and he’ll remember the teams that passed on him as well.

“The draft can be a tricky time with trades and teams not picking the right people, but I’m just waiting for that important phone call to ring and having my life changed forever,” Allen said. “Who wouldn’t want to be [the No. 1 draft pick]? If that happens I’m truly blessed, if not I’ll see that team.”

Coming from a school that is often thought of as a powerhouse basketball school, Allen is well aware that he was part of a team that helped reintroduce Kentucky back into the college football landscape.

Finishing with a 10-3 record, including a huge statement win over Florida in Gainesville, as well as capping off the season with a Citrus Bowl win, Kentucky and Allen found themselves in the national spotlight.

“When I think about it like that I’m really humbled and blessed to have the opportunity to do that,” Allen said. “I just thank all the fans for coming out and supporting us this year and last year because this program has grown a lot. Everyone just wants to be great and being part of that was a great feeling.”

Allen will surely hear his name called early on Thursday night, and when he does he’ll have a piece of his son up there with him. Partnering with JCPenney and Collection by Michael Strahan, Allen’s suit jacket liner will feature his son’s name as well as his birthday.

“He’s been my inspiration this whole year and he’s the reason I’m the person I am today,” Allen said. “So having him in my suit is going to be a blessing.”
