Denver Nuggets – Who To Focus on

Nikola Jokic – (CPT – $17,400 | UTIL – $11,600)

Jokic has had a really solid series so far, scoring below 50 fantasy points just twice in the five games so far with 43.5 and 48.8 fantasy points. He has been the main focus for this Denver Nuggets squad all season, averaging 31 minutes with a usage rate of 27%

In the five games, Jokic has recorded 4 double doubles and one triple double. His price tag as a Captain is the highest on the slate and for good reason. He’ll put a restriction on what type of line you could build if you play him there. He’ll most likely be higher owned as a Utility play though over the Captain spot and the salary is a good reason for that.

Jamal Murray – (CPT – $13,500 | UTIL – $9,000)

Jamal Murray makes for a better case as a captain due to his price tag but his overall performance in this series has been very roller-coaster ride like. He has scored 28.5, 35.5, 11.3, 36.5, and 45.5 fantasy points. His performance may cause for him to be slightly lower owned but I still expect his ownership to be high in terms of this showdown slate.

Monte Morris – (CPT – $6,900 | UTIL – $4,600)

Now you can either target Morris or Barton and I feel like their ownership may come out to be very similar. Barton does hold a higher price tag but the performances of the two have been very similar. Morris has reached value in three of the five games so far, 11.5 and 18.8 fantasy points are the two that he did not.

He’s averaging near 20-24 minutes per playoff game so far also, with a usage rate of 17%. Morris has reached double digit real points besides in the first game where he scored just 2 points and had a horrible stat line.

San Antonio Spurs – Who To Focus On

DeMar DeRozan – (CPT – $15,900 | UTIL – $10,600)

I only believe in revenge and birthday narratives but I’m rolling with the narrative of “DeRozan getting ejected and wants blood” narrative due to his previous performance. He started the series out pretty good, scoring 43.5, 46.3, and 43.5 fantasy points but has turned in 31.8 and 24.5 (ejection game) fantasy points since then.

DeRozan may go “lower” owned as a captain then Nikola Jokic, LMA, and Jamal Murray. He’s averaging near 35 minutes in this playoff series while holding a usage rate of 28%.

LaMarcus Aldridge – (CPT – $14,700 | UTIL – $9,800)

LMA is by far one of my favorite big men this post season besides Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid. He has had a decent playoff series, scoring just about 40 fantasy points twice with 41.8 and 43.3 fantasy points. He started out the playoff series with just 28.5 fantasy points and gradually got better but in game 5, he slowed down a bit with 36.5 fantasy points.

LMA has reached a double double twice in this series while nearing the double double in the other three, nothing 8, 8, and 9 rebounds. He has the potential to reach a double double in tonight’s game and with it being an elimination game for the Spurs, LMA should push his abilities up a notch.

Derrick White – (CPT – $12,600 | UTIL – $8,400)

Derrick White is coming off of two horrible games in game 4 and 5, scoring 20.5 and 19.5 fantasy points. White has honestly only shown up once and that was the first home game for the Spurs in the series, scoring 57.8 fantasy points. White is a favorite of mine to target tonight with how bad he has performed and what could cause his ownership to be lower owned.

White has been a force this season for the San Antonio Spurs but he has yet to actually show the same ability in this series. His minutes have also been scattered all over the board with him playing above 30 minutes just twice so far in game two and three. He can be a high reward, low owned captain play tonight.

Other Plays To Target

Torrey Craig – (CPT – $5,700 | UTIL – $3,800)

Torrey Craig isn’t the sneakiest play but he’s a great play that has huge upside. He is mainly being used for his defense on DeMar DeRozan but has also notched two good performances so far in this series. He scored 24 and 36.5 fantasy points in game 3 and 4. In game 5, Craig notched 15 fantasy points off of 1 point and 10 rebounds, with 1 block.

If Craig can get his shot to fall like he previous has and matches that with his rebounds, he can be a great play for tonight’s showdown slate. He has played 37 minutes and 28 minutes in the two games he has started. The minutes will be there also if he remains in the starting lineup.

Mason Plumlee – (CPT – $5,400 | UTIL – $3,600)

Mason Plumlee is truly a non-factor in the playoffs and is coming off of a poor game 5 with just 6.8 fantasy points. He has recorded 16, 14.8, 15.8, and 10 fantasy points in the first four games though but that’s still nothing to be excited about. But this is a showdown slate so we need a crazy play like this.

Plumlee has only reached 20 minutes once in this series also. Everything is pointing to not play a guy like Plumlee but he comes at a reduced price for utility. If you play him at captain then you might see a high ownership also because he still doesn’t hurt your salary, many will think more like this then to play him at a utility position.

Jakob Poeltl – (CPT – $8,400 | UTIL – $5,600)

Now this isn’t a huge “sneaky” play but it’s just a play that I am not a fan of. Poeltl has been very consistent though this playoff series, scoring about 20 fantasy points in every single game except game 1 where he scored 17.5 fantasy points. He is another big man that can reach double double potential with his points and rebounds, with his lowest rebound recorded this playoff series is 6 in game 1.

Poeltl does have scattered minutes with LMA being the go to big man for this San Antonio Spurs squad. He has played as low as 20 minutes in game two and then as high as 31 minutes in game 3.
