Patrick Mahomes has redefined the quarterback position, so it’s no surprise that the Kansas City Chiefs superstar and reigning MVP is the Madden 20 cover.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has to be considered the best player in the NFL today after producing a season for the ages in just his first year as a starter. Mahomes ran away with the MVP award by throwing for over 5,000 yards with an even 50 touchdowns and a whopping 8.8 yards per pass attempt.

So there was no doubt that Mahomes would be in line for the Madden 20 cover, and EA Sports have officially named him the star of the upcoming installment in the franchise.

Though the idea of the “Madden Curse” remains strong thanks to Madden 19 cover star Antonio Brown’s tumultuous offseason, the current Oakland Raiders wideout is the highest-paid player at the position and caught 15 touchdown passes in 2018.

And out of all people, Chiefs fans shouldn’t fret about Mahomes suffering any sort of statistical drop-off because of a curse that may or may not be endorsed by flat-earthers.

Since Mahomes can make off-handed throws, no-look passes, and toss dimes like a shortstop, no curse is powerful enough to stand in his way.

Mahomes will have his work cut out for him next season, as he must carry a Chiefs team that is in a transitioning phase on defense. There will also be question marks around him on offense with Tyreek Hill potentially facing suspension, but Mahomes is a special quarterback who has the type of accuracy, arm strength, and mental processing to work with anything around him.

With a player like Mahomes at the helm, it’s Super Bowl or bust for the Chiefs every year; that’s the expectation he sets for everyone else in the building.

And when it comes to the video game world, the 50-touchdown quarterback should be a “Barry Sanders in Tecmo Bowl” or “Michael Vick in Madden 04” kind of player in Madden 20.
