A weird 2019 NFL Draft got even weirder when the Green Bay Packers selected Rashan Gary out of Michigan with the 12th pick.
Just when we thought the 2019 NFL Draft couldnāt get any weirder, the Green Bay Packers went on to select Rashan Gary with the 12th pick.
Cheesehead Nation was thoroughly confused, and we donāt really blame them. Itās not like Gary, a defensive tackle out of Michigan, is a bad player, or one who wasnāt worthy of a first-round pick. Somebody was going to snap him up before the first-round ended.
Itās just a bit baffling that the Packers snapped him up with the 12th pick. The Packer made upgrading the defensive front and pass rush a priority so it wasnāt exactly a glaring need.
Nevertheless, the Packers went with Gary, and who knows? Maybe Gary will surprise us and be a stud in the NFL. Or, he could be a bust? No one knows what will become of Gary, which is why, if youāre a Packers fan, there are some mixed feelings about this pick.
As usual, Packers fans took to Twitter to make their feelings known about the Gary pick, and the feeling is mixed.
And thatās the entire issue here. Itās risky for the Packers to pick a wildcard such as Gary at such a high pick. If he can live up to his potential, he will be the steal of the Draft, and heāll make all of us eat our words off of fine China. If not? This will be a monumental blow for the Packers front office.
While we got that out of the way, there was this moment when Gary received the call that he would be heading to Green Bay, that perfectly sums up what the NFL Draft is all about:

Those are moments that should be frozen in time.
