The NFL future of Tyreek Hill is in jeopardy after audio leaked of him threatening the mother of his child and detailed abuse toward their son.
Tyreek Hill might have played his last down in the NFL. The Chiefs receiver and his fiancée are under investigation for child abuse after their son suffered a broken arm that brought Overland Park police officers to the home.
One day after the district attorney declined to press child abuse charges on Hill, audio leaked of Hill threatening his fiancée Cristal Espinal and included quotes of the boy being punched in his chest and using a belt.
If the Chiefs don’t cut him immediately just as they did last season when Kareem Hunt was cut after he was videotaped kicking a woman, he will be subject to a lengthy suspension.
The football aspect for the Chiefs to consider if what they do knowing they may not have Hill who had a breakout year last season with 12 touchdowns, 87 catches and more than 1,400 yards.
The news breaking the day of the first round of the NFL Draft means the Chiefs could be looking for Hill’s replacement.
The Chiefs don’t own a first round pick after trading it to Seattle in the Frank Clark trade. The Chiefs do have two second round picks and one in the third on Friday. It’s a near certainty one of those picks will be used on a receiver.
Players who could be on the board when the Chiefs pick at No. 61 could include Terry McLaurin, Hakeem Butler, Parris Campbell, Deebo Samuel, Kelvin Harmon, JJ Arcega-Whiteside, Miles Boykin, Riley Ridley, and Andy Isabella.
Don’t discount the Chiefs plotting a trade into the latter portions of the first round if the Chiefs are in love with D.K. Metcalf, N’Keal Harry or A.J. Brown. If that does happen, it would guarantee they are moving on from Hill.
