The first round of the 2019 NFL Draft is the talk of Friday morning and in a few short hours the second round will be upon us.

Day two of the NFL Draft is just as important as the first round. While the top draft picks get the headlines, the players selected on the second day are expected to contribute and be a meaningful part of their new teams plans next season. Last year’s defensive rookie of the year was a second round pick with the Indianapolis Colts’ linebacker Darius Leonard.

There is plenty of talent left on the board in the second round of the draft. The top names to look out for are Missouri quarterback Drew Lock, Ole Miss wide receivers D.K. Metcalf and A.J. Brown on offense. Meanwhile, on defense keep an eye on the corners, including LSU’s Greedy Williams, Temple’s Rock Ya-Sin, Washington’s Byron Murphy and Michigan State’s Justin Layne. The draft’s top offensive tackle on many draft Twitter’s boards, Florida’s Jawaan Taylor, remains after being mocked inside the top ten for most of the process. Taylor’s fall seems injury related and the most confusing given there was little out there to speak to his health before the draft.

On the second day is where the NFL seems to see the most movement as there are seven teams with multiple second round picks and even more than that if you throw in the third round. Indianapolis leads the way with three second round picks. This comes only a year after the team nailed two of their four second round picks with Leonard and offensive tackle Braden Smith.

The second and third round could also be a point where we see active NFL players traded. Josh Rosen will be discussed ad nauseam. It looks like it will come down to Miami, New England and the Los Angeles Chargers for his services. Other players who could be moved are Texans pass rusher Jadaveon Clowney and Arizona’s cornerback Patrick Peterson.

New England, Dallas, New Orleans, the Los Angeles Rams and Cleveland will be making their first picks of the draft in the second round after either not owning a first round pick or trading out of the first round. Here is how the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft could play out later tonight.
