5 teams that won the 2019 NFL Draft
Philadelphia Eagles
Another NFC East team should be considered big winners from the 2019 NFL Draft, and it’s no surprise to see Howie Roseman on this list. A genius with trades, Roseman is just as good on draft day and managed to pick up several more quality contributors for the Philadelphia Eagles as they attempt to push for another Super Bowl victory.
The Eagles started their draft by snagging a difference-maker at the all-important offensive tackle position with the 22nd overall pick. Washington State Cougars product Andre Dillard is an incredible athlete who seems to have a high floor at the generally unpredictable tackle position. He can slot in perfectly as a left tackle to replace Jason Peters one day, and he has the upside to be that caliber of a player.
Though Roseman fleeced the Chicago Bears in a trade to bring on workhorse back Jordan Howard, there’s nothing wrong with adding another star rusher to the fold. Miles Sanders just might be the best running back in the class, and he has the type of passing-down ability that Howard doesn’t. He could be a perfect complement to Howard, eventually out-snapping the productive former Bears rusher. At the very least, he’s a major upgrade to Wendell Smallwood, especially when it comes to his impact on passing plays.
The Eagles other second-round pick, JJ Arcega-Whiteside, is one of the most exciting Day 2 prospects in this year’s class. Arcega-Whiteside should push DeSean Jackson and Alshon Jeffery for snaps on the outside, and he has the potential to make some noise in critical situations even as a rookie. His consistency, determination, intelligence, and elite ability at the catch-point will make him a future star and fan favorite in Philadelphia; Arcega-Whiteside is the kind of player who can put up double-digit touchdowns for several seasons to come.
