Daily Fantasy Baseball: Top MLB DFS Value Plays – Sunday, April 28th (Main)
Daily Fantasy Baseball is in full swing, and whether you play on DraftKings, FanDuel, Yahoo, or Fantasy Draft, this article is designed to help you find the best value plays across the board for today’s slate. These low salary targets are my top players to help you roster your stud bats and pitchers.
Welcome to FantasyCPR! If you are a regular reader, welcome back for baseball! If you are new we are glad to have you, and we certainly hope you make us your first source of your Daily Fantasy Baseball research everyday. We will have plenty of articles every day here, and no matter where you play, we are likely to have you covered.
What separates us from others, is that we have a solid team of writers all tackling different areas to write about. This allows us to hone in our content, and you give our best plays possible, as early as possible. We are without a doubt the leader in first-look articles for DFS, so if you just found us, welcome, and I hope you come back for more.
While most of our content is site specific, whether it be for hitting or pitching, this article is going to be different. What I will do here, is evaluate potential value plays for that particular day, across the four major DFS sites.
So the plan of attack here is, first I will highlight my top value plays for Yahoo and Fantasy Draft. I will dig up certain plays that I think fit their scoring systems, and possible flaws in pricing. I will then do the same for FanDuel, and then for DraftKings.
Finally after I break down my favorites from each site specifically, I will then finish up with top overall multi-site value plays. These are the top players viable across the industry, who are in line to out produce their respective salary, no matter what the site. All of these plays are just simply the best value plays that stand out across the industry, regardless of site.
Daily Fantasy Baseball: Top Value Plays – Yahoo!
C – Wilson Ramos – New York Mets – $10
Gio Gonzalez is back in the majors, and he will start at Citi Field for the Brewers this afternoon. With Steven Matz on the hill for the Mets, this might be one of my favorite games to target bats in. Matz has had some bright spots this season in five starts, but has also shown that he can lit up as well as he did not even register an out while giving up six earned runs just two starts ago. My point is, Vegas has a low game total on this game, and it will not be too popular. I think runs will be scored off these starters however, and I think this is a sneaky good game to target some bats in.
That brings me to Ramos. We do not have to worry about resting after a night game because Travis D’Arnaud got the start last night, while Ramos got the day off. Ramos has only homered once this season, but he carries a decent .263 batting average, and has driven-in 16 runs in just 23 games. He is 0-for his last 8, but a date with an aging lefty veteran in Gonzalez could be just what the doctor ordered for the remedy to break the slump.
2B – Rougned Odor – Texas Rangers – $11
Before I get too far ahead of myself here, this is the prime spot to mention that the main slate on Yahoo is the entire 15-game docket, as opposed to the 10-game main slates on DK and FanDuel. Therefore, we do have some extra games here. A player falling in that range of later games is Odor, who wore the golden sombrero in his return from injury last night going 0-for-5 with five strikeouts.
Odor has struggled this season, and was terrible in his return from his two-week absence. Danny Santana was playing OK, but this lineup needs the power threat of Odor, and needs him to turn it around. Erik Swanson will be on the hill for the Mariners, and he has struggled to an 0-2 start with a 4.61 ERA. If you believe Odor is still a good hitter like I do, these are the spots to target him. If he sticks in that two spot in the lineup, he can offer good value here around $10.

OF – Lorenzo Cain – Milwaukee Brewers – $8,200
“She don’t lie, She don’t lie, She don’t lie…….. Lo Cain.” Anyone else sing that with me every time you hear that classic? No? You will now :). As you read on today you are going to see a ton of Brewers. Mets pitching is just struggling all around, and the Brew Crew continues to mash on the road. Here on Fantasy Draft, Cain has slipped down into the value range after an 0-for-11 skid, but he seems to have broken out since Milwaukee arrived at Citi Field.
On Friday Cain went 2-for-5, with a huge 3-run double in the fifth inning that put the Brewers up 8-1 in a game they went on to win 10-2. He was at it again last night, as he collected two more hits, and scored a run, as Milwaukee got to Noah Syndergaard for 10 hits and five earned runs.
IF – Josh Donaldson – Atlanta Braves – $8,200
It hasn’t been a particularly awesome 2019 campaign thus far for the veteran Donaldson with his new squad, but one thing he did finally get yesterday after his injury riddled 2018 was a day off. Donaldson is playing nearly everyday, and we know he is the type of guy who will wear down if he doesn’t get a day off here and there.
The Braves will face Rockies struggling left-hander Tyler Anderson today, and Fantasy Draft is the one site today where stacking these guys up along with some solid pitching is doable. Ronald Acuna is only $9K, and a little mini two-man stack may be in order here, as this match-up is one of the best on the slate.
Donaldson is hitting .261 with eight doubles and four homers, so while the power numbers are down, it is safe to say Donaldson is still making some good contact for the most part.
Daily Fantasy Baseball: Top Value Plays – FanDuel
1B – Rowdy Tellez – Toronto Blue Jays – $2,500
The 24-year-old big-man DH Tellez has been a pleasant surprise to the Jays lineup, knocking five balls out of the yard already while driving-in 16 runs. I thought with Vlad Jr. now in the fold, Tellez would likely see some reduced playing time, but the fact the he DH’d against lefty Brett Anderson last night leads me to believe the Jays will find a way to get keep his bat in the lineup, along with Justin Smoak and Brandon Drury for the time being.
If Drury can succeed at second base, this 3,4,5 of Smoak, Guerrero Jr., and Tellez has some serious pop, and plenty of home runs will be hit with this group. I think the spark continues today against Chris Bassitt, and I will likely have a Blue Jays stack somewhere here on FanDuel today.
OF – Ryan Braun – Milwaukee Brewers – $2,900
The Brewers continue to rip the baseball, as they ripped Thor for 10 hits in less than five innings. Braun got the night off last night, so today he will get the lefty Steven Matz, who he has had some success against in a small sample size. Braun is 3-for-8 with a double and home run off of Matz, and the aging veteran looks to be really be in a great spot here.
In fact, I think Matz is overachieving a bit this season, as any Mets fan (@2locksports?) will tell you he is nothing special. I know the Brewers right handed bats are struggling for the most part, but Braun can easily be paired with other Brew Crew value for a nice stack with Christian Yelich or Lorenzo Cain, coming up on the last page of this article.
Daily Fantasy Baseball: Top Value Plays – DraftKings
2B/SS – Eric Sogard – Toronto Blue Jays – $3,900
Sogard continues to rake for some reason, as he remained in the lead off spot on Saturday, even against left-hander Brett Anderson. He went 1-for-2 with a double, two walks and two runs scored, and brought his season batting average up to .400. I am a little leery of targeting today’s A’s starter Chris Bassitt, as he was solid in his first start, but a Toronto stack is not a bad idea as this team is starting to heat up with the bats a bit.
Sogard is a quietly incredible story to start the 2019 season, and it is too bad this run is not likely to last. You would be a fool not to think that regression is coming, as it is as natural as ever with a start like this, but this a 32-year-old journeyman that never really cracked a starting lineup anywhere for a very long stint.
He is under the magical $4K mark for value here on DK which is where I kind of set the bar for this article, but he did get a nice price bump on FanDuel which at least reflects his production a bit. Depending on how my builds here on DK shape up, I will likely be using some Sogard once confirmed he is atop this Jays lineup once again.
OF – Steve Wilkerson – Baltimore Orioles – $2,200
Free square alert again! Hey he stole a base yesterday, and boom value! $2,200 is so low of a price on DraftKings I will once again stress how important saving this much on a roster spot can be in certain situations. I haven’t completely broken down pitching, but this looks like a day where we may not necessarily need to go here. However, if I want two or three bats over $5K, and Wilkerson is in the starting lineup once again, I will not hesitate to use this value play once again.
Wilkerson has started four games now for the Orioles, and while he is racking up the strikeouts, he has hit safely in three straight starts. The fact that has hit a homer already, and now stolen a base, leads me to believe if he remains in the starting lineup, this is just too cheap of a price. Wilkerson obviously has some potential.
Daily Fantasy Baseball: Top Value Plays – Across the Industry!
Welcome to the most important, and final page of the article. On most days, certain value plays will line up well on 2 or three, or even all of the sites covered in this article. From the looks of it, I have a piece of every player coming up here on at least two sites in my early lineups, so just because you did not see somebody yet on another site specific slide from earlier, he could be coming up right now.

1B – Jesus Aguilar – Milwaukee Brewers – ($3,100 DK, $2,000 FD, $7 Y!, $5,500 FantasyDraft)
It has not been a pretty season for Aguilar, and the power we saw consistently last season is nowhere to be found. It was looking like Eric Thames was going to be lost in the shuffle, but he is playing light years better than Aguilar this season. Aguilar has just nine hits this season with two doubles and is yet to homer, and his batting average sits at a paltry .130.
So what the heck can I possibly see here? Well, value of course, with some hope. Aguilar hit .274 with 35 home runs in 2018, and we are really not that far into 2019 here. It is still April, so I can take a slow start like this with a grain of salt.
We know he has power, he proved that last year. Is he pressing a bit at this point and maybe trying too hard at the plate? Probably.. Aguilar will figure it out, and now at rock bottom price, when he does finally go yard not only will he be cheap, he will likely be highly under owned. Nobody was paying attention but I called Nick Castellanos first homer a couple of days ago. Today is the day for Aguilar.
OF – Nick Williams – Philadelphia Phillies – ($3,800 DK, $2,000 FD, $7 Y!, $7,700 FantasyDraft)
Williams has proven he isn’t the best pinch-hitter this season, as his opportunities have been limited to just that. He obviously lost any hopes of starting when the Phillies signed Bryce Harper, and even after the injury to Odubel Herrera, it took over a week for Williams to finally crack the starting lineup. Aaron Altherr has been worse, so Williams finally started Saturday, and responded in the Phillies hit parade, by going 2-for-4 with two RBI’s, while launching his first home run of the season in the first inning off of Trevor Richards.
I would say $3,800 on DK is maybe a little steep and not so much of a lock, but at bare minimum price on FanDuel and Yahoo, this looks like a great salary saving spot, and really close to a lock after Williams may have shown he belongs in this lineup for now, at least while Herrera is on the shelf.
2B/SS – Hernan Perez – Milwaukee Brewers – ($3,800 DK, $2,100 FD, $7 Y!, $7,200 FantasyDraft)
One more cheap Brewer today as I continue to pick on Matz. Hernan Perez has always been a guy who only plays against lefties, so I expect him to crack the lineup today and likely hit sixth right after Aguilar. Perez does have some pop in his bat with three home runs on the season in limited playing time, and he has gone yard off of Matz in just 11 at-bats as well.
He is even getting some regular playing time as of late, which always helps with being in a rhythm at the plate. I want to pay up for Tigers lefty Matthew Boyd against the White Sox if the weather is good, and having a minimum priced Aguilar and near-min priced Perez to pair with Yelich and Cain or Braun makes it incredibly easy to do so on FanDuel.
That is all for today’s edition of MLB DFS Top Value Plays. I hope you like the format, as I think this is the best way to talk about which value bats and pitchers to consider, no matter what site you play on.
