At the end of Avengers: Infinity War, Spider-Man was one of the many heroes we saw get dusted in the snap. So, exactly how did Spider-Man come back in Avengers: Endgame?

In a non-superhero movie, when a character ends a movie as a pile of dust, their likelihood of returning in future movies seems low. But, comics have different rules that the Marvel Cinematic Universe also follows. So, when Peter Parker/Spider-Man was one of the characters not to survive the Decimation at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, the question was how he would return in Avengers: Endgame not if.

Warning: MAJOR Avengers: Endgame spoilers will follow.

Five years after Thanos snapped his fingers, Scott Lang returns from the Quantum Realm with the idea to use time travel to bring everyone back by retrieving the Infinity Stones in the past. Tony Stark figures out how to make time travel survivable and the Avengers head to the past to fix the present.

Once they get the Infinity Stones, Tony makes a new gauntlet and then everyone argues over who will be the one to snap everyone back into existence. Hulk gets to me the one to snap seeing as the new Professor Hulk is the only one strong enough to survive the Infinity Stones’ power.

It works and the Decimation is reversed. But, 2014 Thanos shows up to make sure the future where Thor beheads him never happens. Once again, it looks like Thanos is going to defeat the Avengers. He summons his army and all hope seems lost.

That is when a bunch of portals open and the expanded Avengers roster joins the fight. This includes Spider-Man who arrives from Titan with Mantis, Drax, Doctor Strange and Peter Quill. Peter reunites with Tony and then the fighting begins.

After Tony Stark defeats Thanos by snapping the Mad Titan and his army out of existence, or back to 2014, Iron Man dies because a human is not strong enough to use the Infinity Stones. Peter attends Tony’s funeral with Aunt May and the other Avengers.

Peter also returns to high school where he reunites with Ned, who also has not aged, so it looks like Ned was also among those who were dusted.

Next up for Spider-Man will be his next solo movie in July. Spider-Man: Far From Home sees Peter and Ned heading to Europe on a school trip. Seeing as most of the cast from Homecoming is returning as Peter’s classmates in the sequel, did all of them get dusted to explain why they are all still in high school?
