NBA Playoffs 2019: Toronto Raptors vs. Philadelphia 76ers Game 2 live stream: Watch online
By Ian Levy
Kawhi Leonard was unstoppable in Game 1 leading the Raptors to a huge win. Can the 76ers find an answer to steal momentum in Game 2?
The Raptors have been absolutely rolling, coming off four straight wins over the Magic to smash the 76ers in Game 1 of their second-round series. Kawhi Leonard and Pascal Siakam were sensational, combining for 74 points on 28-of-38 from the field and 6-of-11 from behind the 3-point line. Philadelphia may need adjust their defensive assignments in Game 2, or simply raise their focus and attention to detail, because they can’t survive when Toronto’s two best players are making things look so easy.
The degree of difficulty may increase for the 76ers — news broke this morning that Joel Embiid has gastroenteritis and would miss shootaround. He’s listed as probable on the team’s injury report but even if he’s able to play it’s hard to imagine him being at 100 percent. Marc Gasol already rendered him mostly ineffective in Game 1 and the 76ers haven’t been great without him, getting outscored by 4.7 points per 100 possessions in the 161 minutes they’ve played without him in the postseason.
The 76ers could also use a lot more from Jimmy Butler. Since dropping 36 on the Nets in Game 1 of that first-round series, he’s averaged just 10.6 points per game and made 2-of-11 3-pointers. He was 4-of-12 from the field in Game 1 against Toronto and they could surely use his creation to keep pressure on the Raptors defense.
