2019 NFL Draft grades for all 32 teams

Indianapolis Colts

Grade: B+

Best pick: Parris Campbell (WR, Ohio St)

Questionable pick: Ben Banogu (EDGE, TCU)

Sleeper pick: Marvell Tell (S, USC)

There’s no such thing as a “perfect” draft, but the Indianapolis Colts came just about as close as you can to having one last season. After adding two starters on the offensive line, an All-Pro linebacker and help in the running game, the Colts came into the 2019 NFL Draft with even more draft ammo for GM Chris Ballard to build their roster. Ballard opted to trade out of the first round and wound up selecting three times in the second round. My favorite pick out of those three was Ohio State receiver Parris Campbell, who should provide an electric deep threat without some of the long-term injury concerns of a player like Marquise Brown.

Adding a pass rush threat also figured to be a focus for the Colts heading into this draft and while TCU’s Ben Banogu is intriguing from an athletic standpoint, spending a second round pick on him may have been a little steep of a price, particularly with the amount of ammo they had in the second and third rounds and the speed with which edge defenders were coming off the board on Day 2. Some people were saying this about last year’s second rounder Darius Leonard, however, and we all know how that turned out.
