NFL power rankings: Saints, Chargers lead way into 2019
2019 Key Additions: It’s been a homecoming of sorts in terms of veteran players returning to the organization. General manager Howie Roseman dealt for deep threat DeSean Jackson, late of the Buccaneers. Speaking of that team, defensive end Vinny Curry returned to the City of Brotherly Love after being cut by the Birds a year ago and spending 2018 with the Bucs. And recently, defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan re-signed with the club after the franchise opted to let him test free agency. He joins newcomer Malik Jackson on the club’s defensive line. The Eagles also added running back Jordan Howard via a deal with the Bears as they look to get back to running the football, a key to their NFL title in 2017.
Offseason Review: A season ago, the then-defending Super Bowl champions took some time to gain their footing. It wasn’t until the second half of 2018 that the club managed to put at least two wins in a row together. With reliable reserve Nick Foles off to the Jacksonville, Pederson and the club must hope that young quarterback Carson Wentz can remain healthy the entire season. Thanks to Roseman, this is a smartly-built football team that was playing its best football late last year and did get a chance to defend its NFL championship after a 4-6 start.
