2. Set some goals for Kevin Knox

Kevin Knox definitely accomplished some things this season. As one of the youngest players in the league, he finished fifth among all rookies in 3-pointers made and averaged double-digit points as a 19-year-old. However, it’s tough to see where the formative structure of his game is besides volume scoring, something that will be increasingly less important if they acquire Durant and/or Irving.

Knox was fairly inaccurate as a 3-point shooter, hitting just 34.3 percent. He made less than 40 percent of his shots from inside the arc and had considerably more turnovers than assists. He has the length to defend up a position and play the 4 at some point but lacks strength and was a woeful rebounder for a swing forward. Oh, and he defends exactly the way you’d expect a 19-year-old rookie too. Knox has plenty of potential but his role is, as yet, undefined and as they move into next season, the Knicks need to decide what the goals are for him. Are they trying to mold him into a Kevin Durant? A Gordon Hayward? A beefed-up Trevor Ariza? If they don’t figure out what they want and how they’ll help him get there, they risk winding up with an Andrew Wiggins on their hands.
