A five-count rundown from this week’s episode of WWE NXT, keeping you up to date on the latest happenings in the black and gold brand.
This week’s edition of WWE NXT did its best to try to advance some storylines going into NXT TakeOver on Saturday, June 1. While some things came off rather well, others were just … kind of there. Not every episode for the black and gold brand can be a home run and this week’s edition of WWE NXT is a good example of that fact.
We will get into everything here, however, as we run it all down for you. Without further ado, this is the latest edition of the NXT Five Count.
1. A fun, but forgettable, six-man
NXT kicked off the night with a six-man tag team match as the Forgotten Sons went up against the team of Oney Lorcan, Danny Burch and Humberto Carrillo. The match was fine for what it was, but at the end of the day, it was basically a showcase for the Forgotten Sons.
While the team is solid in the ring and they have good matches, there’s just something about the group that’s boring. While we can’t quite put our finger on it, there’s just nothing about this trio that excites us as viewers. Perhaps there are just too many bearded wrestlers in the world today.

The finish came when Ryker hit a double-reverse DDT on Burch and Carrillo while the other two members of the Forgotten Sons double foot-stomped them into the mat. It was an entertaining finish to a fine opening contest, just nothing special in our opinion.
It really seems that NXT is trying to position the Forgotten Sons as top contenders for the NXT Tag Team titles, and with the departure of the Viking Raiders imminent we could be looking at the future of the NXT tag team division. And, honestly, it doesn’t give us a whole lot of hope for the future.
Save us Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly, you’re our only hope!
