Does James Harden have a playoffs problem? We address this question and more in the latest episode of Fastbreak Breakfast.

James Harden may win his second Most Valuable Player award this season, and has a strong argument that he deserved the last three. And yet, each postseason his shooting percentages morph into those of, say, Antoine Walker. While still being one of the top scorers, his points per game have actually decreased from the regular season to the playoffs in each of the last four seasons.

Does he run out of gas? Do teams have a better chance of scheming against him during a series? Do the referees change the way they officiate him? Does he lack an extra top gear that other players go to after the slog of the regular season? Are their other reasons?

On an all new episode of Fastbreak Breakfast we dive into these questions and try to determine if Harden’s numbers are meaningful. We also try to decide if any current NBA players are actually vampires, so don’t take our conclusions too seriously.

Also covered:

  • Was the Trail Blazers bizarre win in Game 2 a good or bad omen for their series against the Nuggets?
  • Is there something you enjoy doing as much as Khris Middleton seems to enjoy playing the Celtics?
  • With the potential of Kemba Walker leaving, what jersey would you advise a new Hornets fan to purchase?
  • Is Jonas Valanciunas setting up head coaching interviews?
  • What other top players besides Harden have the most all-time playoff games with suboptimal shooting numbers?
