Mainz vs. RB Leipzig live stream: Watch Bundesliga online
By Adam Stocker
Mainz face RB Leipzig at Opel Arena on Friday, May 3. Here’s all the info you need to watch online.
Matchday 32 kicks off in the Bundesliga on Friday with Mainz hosting RB Leipzig. With three games remaining, neither club has much to play for. Mainz are locked into a middle table spot. The Carnival club will avoid relegation but cannot qualify for European competition next season. Leipzig will almost certainly finish third. The Red Bulls have 64 points, five points behind second-place Borussia Dortmund but 10 points more than fourth place Eintracht Frankfurt.
Mainz have been an absolute disaster since the start of February. In their last 12 games, Mainz have lost nine games. Despite the terrible results, Mainz have somehow managed to stay in 12th place. Jean-Philippe Mateta leads the club with 12 goals this season and will lead the attack on Friday against Leipzig. However, if Sandro Schwarz’s club are going to compete against Leipzig, Mainz need to figure out their defense. Mainz have allowed 52 goals this season, ranking in the bottom third in the Bundesliga.
After losing their first game following the winter break, Leipzig are unbeaten in their last 13 games. The Red Bulls have won six straight games and have picked up 33 of 39 points. Ralf Rangnick has done a great job with Leipzig this season and should be a hot commodity in the summer when his contract expires. Rangnick has been able to keep winning games despite the Red Bulls being hurt hard by injuries. Nine players are currently unavailable because of injuries, including center-back Dayot Upamecano, who has been a key defender this season. Up front, Timo Werner and Yussuf Poulsen are both having great seasons for Leipzig, with both players scoring 15 goals.
