The Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics split the first two games of the second-round playoff matchup. Who will take control in Game 3?

The Celtics opened their second-round series with a stunning 22-point win over the Bucks, thoroughly suffocating Giannis Antetokounmpo in the paint and playing one of their best offensive games of the playoffs. They followed that with a 21-point loss, letting Giannis spring free a bit but mostly finding themselves buried under a characteristic barrage of Bucks’ 3-pointers.

The Celtics’ ability to slow down Giannis should inspire at least some optimism as the series shifts back to Boston. He compensated with 18 free throw attempts in Game 2 but is still just 9-of-25 on shots inside of eight feet for the series. If Boston can keep making things hard for him and do a bit better job of closing out on shooters after he drives, they can absolutely keep themselves in the series, provided they can work out some of their own kinks on offense.

Khris Middleton was the hero for Milwaukee in Game 2, pouring in 28 points and hitting 7-of-10 from behind the arc. Middleton has been a persistent thorn in the side of the Celtics. In nine career postseason games against Boston, Khris Middleton is averaging 24.1 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game, shooting 57.7 percent from the field and 35-of-55 (63.6 percent) on 3-pointers. If he can give Milwaukee even 80 percent of that level of production they have to feel good about their ability to stay on top.
