So much talk has been paid to who sits on the Iron Throne, but what if King’s Landing is burned to the ground and there is no throne?
Entering the final season of Game of Thrones, the conversation centered around who would be sitting on the Iron Throne when the season ends. But what if there is no Iron Throne when the show ends?
Forget about the claims to the Throne by Jon, Dany, Sansa, Arya, Gendry, Cersei, or anyone else for a second. What if Daenerys burns down King’s Landing with dragon fire from Drogon and in the process burns the Iron Throne to nothing?
If Dany devolves into the Mad Queen which is a popular Game of Thrones theory based on the death of Jorah last episode and the deaths of Rhaegal and Missandei in episode 4. If Dany decides to burn King’s Landing and all the people who live there to the ground, that would destroy the Iron Throne too.
Cersei got a jump-start on burning King’s Landing to the ground when she blew up the Septor of Baelor with wildfire to kill the High Sparrow and everyone else there, Margaery, Loras and the Tyrells, as she skipped out on her trial.
If Dany burns King’s Landing to the ground and there is no Throne. There would still need to be a ruler of the Seven Kingdoms.
Perhaps there is a new Throne built. Gendry could make a new Throne. A Throne that can symbolically serve as a fresh new start in Westeros. Forget about the old rulers who sat on the Throne. All they did was send men to war and die. A new Throne and a new ruler could establish a new way of life, a peaceful life. Forget about the Long Night, maybe there could be a long day, as in, a long period of peace among the Seven Kingdoms.
That could be the happy ending that is synonymous with Disney and Pixar movies, and not Game of Thrones, but if the Throne is destroyed, they will rebuild one, and then a man or woman will sit on it and rule.
