20. Colorado Rockies, 16-20, tied for last place in the NL West (ranked 20th last week)

The Rockies pitching has been abysmal over the last five games, allowing the Brewers and Diamondbacks to score  41 runs during that span. Luckily, Nolan Arenado is back to his normal self, smashing nine home runs on the season while leading the club with 27 RBI. The bullpen still continues to post strong numbers, but their starters have the third-worst ERA in the league and only the Cardinals have a higher home-run-to-fly-ball rate at 20.8 percent. Colorado’s pitching needs to start getting the ball on the ground, or missing bats, or doing something other than what they’ve been doing to have any hope of returning to the playoffs.

19. Toronto Blue Jays, 15-21, 4th in the AL West (ranked 17th last week)

So maybe Vlad Guerrero Jr. wasn’t quite ready for the big leagues? Obviously kidding, but Vlad’s first week in the Majors hasn’t been as spectacular as many thought it would be. He has five hits so far but he’s only batting .152 in nine games. However, Eric Sogard is still hot, hitting another home run last week, but his numbers are starting to come back to earth. Their pitching is still among the top 10 in runs-per-game and ERA, but the offense has to do better than 3.91 runs-per-game to start being serious contenders in the AL East.
