16. Seattle Mariners, 19-19, 2nd in the AL West (ranked 14th last week)

The pitching continues to cost the Mariners games, going 2-8 over their last 10 games and helped put the team in the midst of a six-game losing streak before they finally pulled out a 10-0 win over Cleveland. But Seattle also just lost their series with the Yankees and they are facing the Red Sox this coming weekend. Without Seattle hitting as many homers as they were to start the season, the Mariners are returning to a sub-.500 club. Don’t expect them to linger in the AL West conversation for much longer.

15. Cleveland Indians, 19-16, 2nd in the AL Central (ranked 19th last week)

The Indians will now be without Mike Clevinger and Corey Kluber for an extended period of time, with Clevinger still likely to miss another month while Kluber may not be back until August. Cleveland does still have Trevor Bauer, and young starters Shane Bieber and Jefry Rodriguez have done well in fill-in roles. But the Indians pitching was the only reason they remained in the hunt for the AL Central and without it Cleveland doesn’t have a shot. Offensively, it’s still just Carlos Santana producing runs, with five home runs, 19 RBI and a .871 OPS, but outside him, the offense isn’t doing much. Francisco Lindor is starting to get his feeling back at the plate, but the one reliable aspect of this team was its pitching and losing Kluber and Clevinger could end up being too much for the Indians to overcome.
