Big Strong Boars

Perennial crowd favorites Moustache Mountain opened the show with a match against the re-returning perennial scary guys named after animals, Wild Boar and Primate, AKA The Hunt. From mixing it up with the boys two weeks ago, to mixing it up with the Boar (and Primate) this week, Moustache Mountain prevail. Much like they do when getting into the ring every match, these two are on a roll.

The Hunt look good in their defeat. Much like when they first re-debuted a couple of months ago, they have that kind of “unorthodox” style that tag teams under the WWE umbrella tend to have when their persona is being wild and unhinged. Things like picking up your partner and slamming them down onto your opponent as a form of offense. One of their big signature moves is Wild Boar picking someone up and throwing them into Primate’s arms for a big German Suplex. Stereotypical as it may be, however, it works for guys whose gimmicks are that they are feral animals personified. Or as commentary calls them, “a gap-toothed madman” and “a bearded simian.” Basically, they crazy.

Moustache Mountain though, are undeniable right now. They play all the hits here. Bate even does a play on the whole “slamming your own partner for offense” thing when he has Wild Boar up in the Airplane Spin and then throws him onto Primate. Just when it seemed like The Hunt were starting to build momentum by whipping Bate and Seven into each other, Bate flipped over Seven and they each rocked one of The Hunt with a huge punch. Then it was a clothesline-dragon suplex combo (featuring Bate doing that cool bounce-off-the-ropes-with-my-big-muscles move) for the three count. A couple of big strong boys defeated The Hunt and remain firmly in the … well, the hunt, for NXT UK tag team gold.
