Texas Rangers: The Dot Race

There are plenty of mascot races during Major League Baseball games, some including former Presidents and others, various sausages. However, the Texas Rangers have gone a different route with their fan-favorite event, as they have three differently-colored dots race each other during the middle of the sixth inning.

The three dots, whose colors are green, red and blue, are the official colors of Ozarka, which is a bottled water company in the state of Texas. Prior to the game, fans are given a coupon for Ozarka water, and if your color matches the color dot that wins, you can go into any Texas store and get a free bottle of water.

During the race, the dots run three laps, though the first two laps are done on the big video board. The final lap is actually raced by the dots, as fans cheer their color in hopes of winning their free bottle of water.

In addition to the dots, the Rangers also have famous Texas figures race, including Davy Crockett, Jim Bowie and Sam Houston. The Rangers have always done a nice job of endearing their fans to the team, and this is just another fun way they can try and catch the attention of the younger fan base in Texas.
