Drake dropped the reverse curse on 76ers in Game 7
By Chris Wurtz
The Drake curse is real, and it is alive and well. But the famed Toronto rapper is figuring out how to use it to his advantage, and he proved it Sunday night.
It’s widely known that if Drake backs a team for a big game, they’re toast. It’s been proven on many occasions before. Well, he used his bad luck charm to his hometown team’s benefit Sunday night.
As the Toronto Raptors hosted the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, the star rapper and Toronto sports enthusiast rocked a pair of 76ers shorts to jinx the opponent.
It worked, and Toronto native went on Instagram right after the game to flaunt his good – or bad, I guess? – luck charm.

As his buddies in the background celebrated Kawhi Leonard‘s legendary game-winning buzzer beater, Drake showed off his blue throwback 76ers shorts. He repeated “Yes sir, yes sir,” confirming that it was his plan all along to reverse-curse the 76ers.
The Drake curse goes back a while, and it’s affected just about every sport out there.
In January, the rapper donned an Alabama Crimson Tide hoodie during the National Championship Game. The Crimson Tide went on to suffer the worst loss in 12 years under Nick Saban.
Later that month, Drake tried to skirt the curse on NFL Championship Sunday. Instead of picking one of the Saints, Rams, Chiefs or Patriots to support, he wore a sweater with all four teams’ logos on it. He tested the will of the curse that day, and it pushed back, as both the AFC and NFC Championship games went into overtime.
In past editions of the curse, Drake has jinxed Conor McGregor, Kentucky Wildcats basketball and the Golden State Warriors in the 2016 NBA Finals.
And most notably, Drake has cursed his own Toronto Raptors. Despite snagging multiple top seeds in the Eastern Conference over past seven seasons, they haven’t reached the NBA Finals since he’s become the team’s “Global Ambassador.”

But, if Drake can manipulate the curse the way he did Sunday night, Toronto may be on the upswing.
