You can find plenty of options to boost your fantasy baseball team in hitting or pitching on the waiver wire.

Another week, another chance to look at the waiver wire to improve your fantasy baseball team. There are plenty of players on both sides of the ball heating up with the weather. If you need a boost to your offense or pitchers, I have eight players for you to pick from.

Pitchers are a little more susceptible to a blow up than hitters so be careful on who you add. Hitters could go on their own cold streak but because they play every day, they can make up the loss easier than pitchers.

Then again, the players listed aren’t a good choice for consistency. There’s a reason I’m talking about them in the middle of May and not April. However, you’re looking for players with high value going forward. Who cares what they did last month? It doesn’t count.

So, here are the eight players you should consider adding to start Week 7.

Hunter Pence

The veteran outfielder was expected to be the Rangers fourth outfielder if he made the team at all. Pence has been crushing the ball over the last week. Since May 7, five games, he has four home runs, 11 RBIs, four runs and a .500 average.

The Rangers may have some gaps in their lineup but Pence isn’t one of them. He has seven home runs already and could reach 20 for the first time since 2014. He is outfield and DH eligible so you can use him as a utility if you want.

Mitch Moreland

Moreland is another older player with a recent power surge. Over the last seven days, he has three homers, 10 RBIs and a .389 average. Moreland has 12 home runs and 29 RBIs on the season.

More from FanSided

The Red Sox are heating up going 9-2 in May. The offense is doing their job with 86 runs scored. The first base position has some power-hitting batters atop the overall rankings. Even with his performance, Moreland in 18th on the Player Rater among first basemen. He’s worth an add as a corner infielder.

Wilmer Flores

The utility infielder is making great contact with the ball. He has a .417 average and a .440 on-base percentage over the last week. Flores has six multi-hit games in his last 10 games. He’s spent the majority of that time hitting in the number six spot in the lineup. That does limit his chances to score.

If you’re set on power but need help with average or on-base percentage, then Flores is your target. He has first and second base eligibility in ESPN leagues.

David Fletcher

Fletcher is a similar player to Flores, high contact and low power. Over the last week, he has a .370 average, two home runs, four RBIs and six runs scored.

He was hitting leadoff last week while Tommy La Stella was out. Unfortunately for his value, La Stella is back which pushed Fletcher down to the No. 9 spot. He may not drive in a lot of runs but if he’s getting on base, he’ll score a few of his own.

Fletcher has second and third base eligibility in ESPN leagues.

Kyle Gibson

Now onto the pitchers. I like to look back at the last 15 days for pitchers because they usually make just one start per week. Gibson has a 2.00 ERA, 0.83 WHIP, 22:3 K:BB ratio and two quality starts in his last three games.

He makes his next start on May 14 against the Angels. That is a good matchup for Gibson to continue his hot streak. It helps that the offense is providing good run support, too.

Chris Bassitt

While Oakland’s offense has quieted down some, Bassitt is still pitching well. He has two quality starts in his last three games. He also has 24 strikeouts, three walks and a 3.20 ERA in that span.

Bassitt will make his next start on May 16 against Detroit, a very favorable matchup to get a quality start and a few strikeouts.

Adam Ottavino

The two relievers I have are not going to record saves but they will provide you help in the other pitching categories. Ottavino has been great in New York. He hasn’t allowed a run since April 21 and has five holds in that span.

Ottavino has been getting a lot of use lately. In his last 9.1 innings, he has a 9:6 K:BB ratio with an opposing .111 average. The walks are a bit concerning but he’s getting out of any trouble he puts himself in.

Ryan Pressly

Pressly is another set-up man with great numbers. Over the last week, he has a 0.00 ERA, 0.27 WHIP, two strikeouts, zero walks, three holds and a save.

On the season, Pressly has not allowed a walk or run all year, 17.0 innings. If anything should happen to Roberto Osuna, Pressly is likely the next man up. If you’re in a deep league, he’s a must own for the save potential alone.

Unless you are completely lucky or play in a four-team league, you likely have a player or two struggling. These players may hit a snag in the road as well but their recent hot streak says otherwise.

Let me know in the comments if there’s someone I missed.
