Gonzaga basketball: Starting lineup options for next season
After having another excellent season come to an end in the Elite Eight, Gonzaga will have to reload its roster for next season with a significant talent base poised to exit Spokane.
Making the NCAA Tournament has become an annual tradition for the Gonzaga Bulldogs, who have lorded over the West Coast Conference for years now. Gonzaga broke through for its first Final Four appearance in 2017 and was poised to get back this season before running into the Texas Tech defense in the Elite Eight.
The Red Raiders absolutely stifled Gonzaga, limiting a team that scored nearly 90 points a game during the regular season to just 69 in a season-ending defeat. That loss marked the end of several key Bulldogs’ college careers as Josh Perkins graduated while both Brandon Clarke and Rui Hachimura declared for the NBA Draft.
Killian Tillie and Zach Norvell Jr are also testing the draft waters, but their situation is more unsettled than the other two guys, who are projected as lottery picks and definitely will not be coming back to campus. Mark Few has put together a strong recruiting class, however, so Gonzaga should have plenty of quality options to fill out the starting lineup next season.
A solid mix of top recruits and transfers who are gaining eligibility will help Gonzaga remain a college basketball powerhouse so Bulldogs’ fans won’t have to worry about a significant downturn in their play. With that in mind, let’s take a look at a few options for the Bulldogs’ lineup next year.
