Family of deceased, alcoholic bartender who drank too much after work at Woods’ restaurant sues the golfer and his girlfriend.
Tiger Woods and his girlfriend, Erica Herman, are being sued by the family of a former employee at the golfer’s restaurant, alleging Woods and Herman did not monitor his drinking properly.
Nicholas Immesberger, then 24, died Dec. 10 after losing control of his car on Federal Highway in Martin County, Florida. Immesberger had a blood-alcohol reading of .256, more than three times the limit of .08 in Florida.
The lawsuit claims that Woods and Herman drank with Immesberger on a regular basis and should have been aware of his drinking problem. It’s not clear if Woods and/or Herman were at The Woods restaurant on the night of the fatal crash. The lawsuit only says that Woods and Herman drank with Immesberger at least three nights prior to the crash.
“Tiger knew, or reasonably should have known, that Immesberger was habitually addicted to the use of any or all alcoholic beverages, and/or was a habitual drunkard,” the lawsuit says.
Woods was unavailable for comment. He is playing in the U.S. Open at the Bethpage Black course in New York this week.
