NCAA does something smart and then something utterly ridiculous

The NCAA finally made a smart decision regarding a form of compensation for athletes then did something really ridiculous as the NCAA remains a mess.

NCAA drops the ball on mental health

The NCAA denied James Hudson’s request for eligibility because he didn’t speak up about his mental health at Michigan. Hudson, now at Cincinnati, said the NCAA denied his request because he didn’t tell anyone because he was afraid of being stigmatized. Mental health needs to be taken seriously and this decision is inexcusable. If Tate Martell can play right away at Miami after losing his job at Ohio State, surely Hudson can play without sitting.

A step toward the return of NCAA Football?

The NCAA attempted to save face by announcing a new working group that will explore how they can pay student-athletes for use of their name, image and likeness. They also say they won’t be paid as employees. However, this move could signal a potential return of the popular NCAA Football video game. If this happens, they would get a short reprieve and not be looked at as monsters until their next ridiculous ruling like the one above.

Knicks lose, again

The Knicks lost more than any team this year. Their biggest loss came on Tuesday when they got the No. 3 pick and lost the chance to draft Zion Williamson. The lesson here is Knicks fans should never expect anything good to happen to them as long as James Dolan owns the team.
