The Suns have to be devastated that they fell out of the top three picks in the draft. While they seemed likely to be the team that would select Ja Morant, the point guard from Murray State, now it would seem they’ll have to look elsewhere to plug that gaping hole on their roster.

Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards also dropped three spots in the draft, and are in an unenviable position of trying to find a player that has a high ceiling but can also help them win games now while they look to avoid a full rebuild.

A trade between the two teams would be a way for both teams to address their needs at the same time. The Wizards would be prudent to move Wall before the official end of the 2019 season, which is when Wall’s new extension kicks in. The former No. 1 overall pick suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon while recovering from surgery, and while he’ll miss time this upcoming season, he could be the answer the Suns are looking for at the point guard position. This trade gives them a chance to find a player to slot in next to Bradley Beal as they try to return to the postseason and take advantage of having the star shooting guard under contract for a few more seasons.

The Suns could look to move Josh Jackson after the former Kansas Jayhawk was arrested at a Florida music festival. While they would have preferred to see him reach his potential with them, sometimes a change of scenery is best for both parties. The Suns would miss Warren, but the veteran forward doesn’t quite fit with the other players they have on the team, and they could look elsewhere to fill his production. While Wall won’t immediately contribute, they can at least look to the future with the acquisition of a Wizards first-round pick in the 2021 draft.
