Draftkings League of Legends – Top Friday MSI Plays
By Shaun Evans
Draftkings League of Legends – The Breakdown
The goal in League of Legends is to knock down your opponents towers and destroying their Nexus. There are different lanes that players play in as different champions. You have top lane, mid lane, bottom lane which has two players in on both teams, one being a support, the other known as the ADC and then you also have a jungler who bounces throughout the map. You merge items and weapons together to make your champion stronger which can give you the upper hand in battles.
While the battle is going on, you can use your team to attack the different elements of a dragon called “Drake” to gain team boosts. There is also a Rift Herald which is the ultimate dragon to take down which gives your team an incredible boost plus the small minions or you can just call them minions from Despicable Me that are dressed up.
Now let’s get into the points system and how it works for your line-up build and then we’ll move on to line building strategy.
Captain: Like all showdown slates, we have the Captain position which earn 1.5x fantasy point values.
Kills: +3 Points | Assist: +2 Points | Death: -1 Points | Creep Score: +0.2 Points | 10+ K/A Bonus: +2 Points ( 10 Kills or 10 Assists in A Single Game)
Teams: You also pick a team to put in your lineup, so here’s the point break down for them:
Turrets: +1 Point | Dragons: +2 Points | Baron: +3 Points | First Blood: +2 Points | Win: +2 Points | Win Under 30 Minutes Bonus: +2 Points
We’ll be covering Friday’s only slate of 2 matches that start at 6 a.m./3 a.m. eastern time and then Saturday, which is at 3 a.m./12 a.m. eastern time.
Draftkings League of Legends – Slate Breakdown
Invictus Gaming (-5000) vs. Team Liquid (+1100)
Friday: 6 a.m./3 a.m. Eastern Time
Invictus Gaming has seen Team Liquid a couple of times already and have chosen them as their opponents for the Knockout Round which isn’t a surprise due to their history. IG beat Team Liquid in 33 minutes and 29 minutes the past two times they have faced off. We’re due for most likely the same outcome once again.
Invictus Gaming has actually only lost once in the MSI Stages which was due to the other favorites on this slate, SK Telecom T1. Team Liquid sadly sits at 4-6 in this MSI Stages and has to figure out a way to keep the battle alive in the Mid Lane and hope “Impact” can choose his champion of choice before the two rounds of champion bans happen. If not, Team Liquid will be watching the finals from the sidelines once again.
SK Telecom T1 (-360) vs. G2 Esports (+260)
Saturday 3 a.m./12 a.m. Eastern Time
SK Telecom T1 is actually coming in to this match-up as the favorites as they have won four straight now. They have also already lost to G2 ESports once in the MSI Stages. They’ll be looking to redeem themselves. SK has put up a 7-3 record in this tournament, their losses being to G2 Esports twice and Invictus Gaming once before defeating them later on.
G2 Esports hasn’t had the best of runs to end their stages at the MSI as they have now lost three straight. They are holding just a mediocre 5-5 record but with two of those wins coming against their opponent on Saturday, they could be alright. This will be a tough match no matter what and it’ll be a tough final two rounds for both SK Telecom T1 and G2 ESports as Invictus Gaming seems to have this tournament on lock-down.
Draftkings League of Legends – Main MSI Slate
Top – Khan ($6,600)
Every single player has had the past two days off and will be kicking it back up starting Friday. Khan will be Saturday morning, getting an extra day of practice in. He’s coming off of a 1 death game where he racked up 10 assists, plus 1 kill. He held a K/D ratio of 11.00 while averaging 7 creeps per minute. They also get a favorable match-up versus the G2 Esports squad.
Other Option: TheShy ($7,200) | Wunder ($6,000 *Risky but cheap)
Jungler – Clid ($7,000)
Clid is coming off of 6 kills with 9 assist while just dying twice versus Invictus Gaming. He has put together a nice streak of five games lately where his highest death count was 5 and that was the oldest match out of the five games. He’s averaging near 5.5 creeps per minute while having his highest K/D ratio versus Phong Vu Buffalo, which was 20.00. He knows how to feel up the stat sheet but I don’t think I’ll be hosting him in the captain spot for this slate.
Other Option: Xmithie ($5,800 *He’s another risky play with a tough match-up but is also coming off of a huge game. Possible low owned Captain also)
MID – Faker ($7,600) **
Out of all of the mids, there’s not another mid I’ll even consider for this slate. None of them even look appealing. It’s honestly looking like a SK stack as Invictus Gaming should be the chalkier team with their easy match-up. Faker hasn’t had a death in his past 3 games while putting up 6 kills/8 assists, 5 kills/4 assists, and 8 kills/7 assists. He is on a roll and still not the highest priced mid for some reason. He also has Captain potential in this match-up.
ADC – Doublelift ($6,400) ** COMPLETE RISK AS CAPTAIN or ADC
This is a HUGE risk play and I’ll rolling with it. Now Team Liquid does not have a favorable match-up at all versus Invictus Gaming but DoubleLift is coming off of a great performance, lets roll with it! Versus G2 Sports, Doublelift record a perfect match with 8 kills and 3 assist while holding a K/D ratio of 11. Plus he averaged 11 creeps per minute! Now look, should you have heavy exposure to Doublelift? No. But with this being such a one sided match-up, people will overlook a player that can put up some junk kills and assist while his team is taking a complete whooping.
Other Option: Teddy ($7,400) | JackeyLove ($8,200 *Can Completely Dominate At Any Moment)
SUP – Mata ($5,600)
I love the Support champion, they go overlooked unless you’re Baolan who will always warrant a heavy own percentage. Mata is also coming off of a great match where he recorded 11 assists but no kills. Before that game, he recorded another perfect game with 10 assists but also another no kill game. While he does the “do not die” thing correctly, if he can put the assists and catch at least one or two kills, his return value will be nice. If Mata or Corejj isn’t on your radar, paying up for Baolan is still not a bad choice.
Other Option: Corejj ($4,200)
Team – SK Telecom T1 ($5,400)
With Invictus Gaming being the favorites at -5000 in their match-up, it’s a no brainer to go that route honestly. But at $400 cheaper, SK Teeleecom T1 should still get the dub but also saves some salary for you to pay up at the ADC, Jungler, or even Mid lane if you’d like.
Other Option: Invictus Gaming ($5,800 *Will Be Chalky)
