Dak Prescott is committed to the Dallas Cowboys

With contract negotiations in the works, Dak Prescott told the media on Wednesday night that he wants to be a Dallas Cowboy forever.
Dak Prescott is in the final year of his current contract with the Dallas Cowboys. The fourth-year quarterback will make a little over $2 million dollars, and many fans expect an extension to come soon. Prescott calmed any fears that there might be a problem on Wednesday, when he attended the Reliant Home Run Derby.
“I want to be a Cowboy forever,” Prescott said. “I think the people that are doing the deal feel the same way so to me it’s no rush. I know it will get done.”
Prescott led the Cowboys to an NFC East Title in 2018 and the Divisional Round of the 2018 playoffs. He is one of many players expecting to receive an extension, including wide receiver Amari Cooper and running back Ezekiel Elliot. The Cowboys are hoping that keeping their young talent together, on both the offensive and defense sides, could lead them to a Super Bowl ring.
For now, Prescott seems more focused on what’s happening on the football field than what’s happening at the negotiating table.
“My whole focus is within the locker room,” Prescott said. “I’ve got people that take care of that. I’ve got a great team, team of agents. That’s their job. Jerry [Jones] has said when he’s had to that they are negotiating but as far as I’m concerned, it’s just about getting better, getting better as quarterback, getting better as a leader and just making sure our team is getting better.”
Russell Wilson made history last month when he signed a four-year, $140 million dollar contract with the Seattle Seahawks. Prescott is expected to court a similar deal, and while he isn’t sweating the details right now, he also recognizes the significance of that kind of money.
“It’s all generational money and life-changing money. It’s a blessing just to be in this position. But as far as the numbers are concerned, my focus is within the locker room. I know it’ll get taken care of so it is what it is.”
Prescott knows his teams — both his agents and his football squad — will make the deal work. He has no intentions of playing anywhere else.
“I want to be a Cowboy, I’m sure pretty sure I’ll be a Cowboy for a long time,” Prescott said. “I don’t have any worry or anxiety of it not happening or trying to get it done sooner than later. No worries. It’ll get done.”
