PAC is a man in the middle of a career renaissance and could quite possibly be the first ever AEW Champion come May 25.

Many fans may know him as Neville, but “The Bastard” has been known as PAC since way back in 2004.

Thrilling WWE audiences from 2012-2018, PAC built up quite the reputation as a hard worker with a voracious appetite for success, so many fans were not surprised to see him appear at an AEW event earlier this year.

PAC wasted no time in re-introducing himself to the wrestling industry when he challenged Hangman Page to a match at the Double or Nothing press conference in Jacksonville.

But PAC hasn’t just been sitting at home waiting for AEW to call since he left WWE. He’s been taking care of some unfinished business.

More from AEW

PAC is a former NXT and Cruiserweight Champion with WWE and left the company on not the best terms. The speculative consensus was that he wasn’t happy with his booking, and the booking of the cruiserweights as a whole, so he decided to sit out the rest of his contract and leave the company.

PAC wasn’t seen for a while after that and many fans were surprised he did not show up at The Elite’s big event in 2018, All In. But we know that he didn’t appear then and there for a reason.

He felt he had unfinished business in one of his home promotions, Dragon Gate, and that is where he officially returned to the indie scene and officially reclaimed the name PAC.

PAC returned in a huge way by ousting Dragon Gate pillar, Shingo Takagi, from the company and joining the resident heel faction R.E.D. PAC then became one of the few Grand Slam Champions in the company’s history when he defeated Masato Yoshino to win the most prestigious belt in Dragon Gate, The Open The Dream Gate Champiosnhip.

PAC has continued to hold an iron grip on that belt as he has already successfully defended it three times against Kzy, Shun Skywalker and Dragon Kid. PAC has also been keen to show off his new character, “The Bastard,” which looks to be a more polished version of his WWE heel persona .

PAC wasn’t just satisfied in returning to Japan, he also went on a tear through Europe where he was greeted with a hero’s welcome almost everywhere he went. PAC then went on to have classic matches with wrestlers from WALTER to David Starr in promotions ranging from OTT to Defiant since returning.

But what does he want from AEW?

A championship belt, of course.

PAC claims that Hangman doesn’t know what it means to be a champion and carry a company, unlike PAC, who has his Open The Dream Gate Championship on his shoulder at all times. PAC looks to be trying to set himself up as AEW’s ace right out of the gate but Hangman seems to have the same goal in mind.

Double Or Nothing, on May 25, should give fans an idea on who AEW is looking to promote as their ace moving forward.
