3. Darius Garland, Point Guard, Vanderbilt

Garland only got to play five games of his freshman year before he tore his meniscus and ended his season. The talented point guard showed extreme promise and potential in the five games that he played, and is likely the second-ranked point guard behind Ja Morant. He will have to win over most NBA scouts with his high-school tape, but he has too much potential to be overlooked.

If the Knicks feel like they need to draft a point guard, Garland could be the choice if Morant goes to Memphis. His strengths are on the offensive side of the ball where he showed himself to be one of the better pull-up shooters among lead guard prospects. There aren’t many players in this class with the potential to be dangerous three-level scorers, but Garland has it.

He may not make a ton of sense with Dennis Smith Jr. and, potentially, Irving, but if the Knicks decide to take the best player available and not worry about fit, it’s possible they talk themselves into Garland.
