Does Jon die in the Game of Thrones series finale? That’s one of the burning questions fans are wondering now that the HBO series is over.
Jon Snow has already died once, but does the man who doesn’t want to be king die in the Game of Thrones series finale?
Thankfully, for fans of Ned Stark’s bastard who we learned was the son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen, he lived. Although, he’s dead inside after what he had to do in the series finale.
It was a move that fans could have predicted after seeing Daenerys and Drogon torch King’s Landing in the penultimate episode, but Jon saw no other option but to kill the woman he said was his queen. He didn’t love her in the sense of wanting to marry her, but he bent the knee and followed her into battle.
Jon killed Dany and that act resulted in King Bran sending him to Castle Black to rejoin the Night’s Watch where he took the black for the second time in series history. Time is a flat circle in Westeros, apparently, and he’s back where he started after he and Ned rode to the Wall.
Jon is going to live out his days with the Night’s Watch where he seemed to be most comfortable, or at least, surrounded by people he felt the strongest connection toward.
It’s certainly not going to please all the die-hard Thrones fans. There were so many expectations for Jon either serving as the King or maybe as a co-ruler with Daenerys by his side. Alas, that’s not even remotely close to what fans got. It’s yet another disappointing turn in the final season that has been harshly criticized by long-time and casual fans.
Nevertheless, Jon is alive. But he’s dead inside, living out his days at Castle Black.
