Leslie Jones delivered a powerful segment of The Weekend Update that went scorched earth over the new anti-abortion laws.
Let’s spare the hyperbole, Leslie Jones delivered one of the most poignant and powerful moments of this season SNL while eviscerating the new anti-abortion laws.
Nine states passed anti-abortion laws so strict that it’s next to impossible to not see them for what they are: A war on women.
Jones leaned all the way into that while on the Weekend Update desk. She rolled up in a Handmaid’s Tale outfit before ripping it off to unveil a shirt pointing to her vagina with the words ‘MINE’ above the arrow.
That was a statement in of itself, but it was just the jumping off point for Jones soon-to-be legendary incineration of anyone who aligns themselves against women’s rights. Jones pulled up a picture of the white male Alabama senators who voted to create laws that govern a woman’s body.
“This looks like the casting call for a Lipitor commercial,” Jones joked.
“I don’t care about what you do with your sixty year old droopy-ass balls,” she yelled before going in on how women have choice and have freedom even if men don’t want to believe that.
“If you’re a woman out there, and you feel scared or confused, just know that you’re not alone,” Jones said, looking directly into the camera and pushing the humor to the side for a moment. “There are so many women out there who have your back, especially me.”
She signed her statement halfway through — Leslie “Dracarys That Bitch” Jones — before delivering an empowering finisher. It was clear form the response on Twitter that she’s nowhere near close to being alone.
“You can’t tell me what to do with my body. You can’t make me small or put me in a box. I’m six feet tall and 233 pounds, ain’t no box big enough to hold me.”
This clip needs to be played on an endless loop, at high volume preferably in residential areas.
