Does Tyrion die in the Game of Thrones series finale? That’s one of the burning questions Game of Thrones fans have now that the show is ending.
All good things must come to an end and that’s the realization fans are adjusting to now that Game of Thrones is over. But did our favorite characters make it past the finish line or did they join the long list of casualties?
When it comes to Tyrion, he’s evaded death since the first season when he was Catelyn Stark’s prisoner and needed Bronn to win a trial by combat to avoid being tossed through the moon door. Later, he faced another trial when he was found guilty of regicide for the death of King Joffrey. After Oberyn Martell lost the trial by combat vs. the Mountain and was sentenced to death by his father, Tywin, his brother, Jaime helped him escape where Varys took him to safety halfway across the realm.
And after fighting off the Stone Men with Jorah and nearly drowning and escaping Mereen with Daenerys and managing to talk his way out of many more instances where he could have been killed, Tyrion made it to the series finale.
Naturally, Tyrion was met with another trial after Daenerys had him arrested for treason.
Tyrion’s trial was one of the bigger plot points in the Game of Thrones finale because it’s there he nominated Brandon Stark to be the ruler of Westeros. It was a democratic approach where the people chose who will preside over the land. Rulers will not be born but selected.
Tyrion also was the one who made sure Jon did what was right by killing Daenerys’ run of terror before it could get any worse.
The imp had the biggest role in the episode and now he’s the Hand of King Bran with a small council that includes Bronn, Ser Davos, Sam and Ser Brienne of Tarth. Ser Podrick is taking on the act of Hodor and wheeling Brandon around. The rest of the council will be filled out, but long after our watch has ended.
